Puriri Hills pope, Vintage 2013
THE REVIEWS
99 Points "... this is elegance on a grand scale with a truly impressive depth of dark berry, floral, violet, spice and subtle savoury and dried herb notes. It's a wonderful demonstration of power delivered with great subtlety. A generously proportioned wine that promises to be a long-distance runner." - Bob Campbell
98 Points "Fragrant and alluring bouquet with some beguiling perfumes, complexity, focus and youth. This is a young wine still with lots of aromas of french oak and toasty wood spice layers. Dark berries, marmite, whispers of dark chocolate and olive. On the palate - tense, vibrant, full-bodied and rich in flavour and texture. Some very fine tannins, medium+ acidity still ageing and integrating well. Still requiring cellar time or double decanting if you cannot wait. A reflection of the excellence that 2013 gifted us in New Zealand. Complex and lengthy finish. A true investment wine likely best from 2030." - Cameron Douglas
5 Stars “Full of youthful promise, the 2013 vintage is a classy blend …. Deeply coloured, it has a fragrant, youthful, berryish, spicy bouquet, leading into a full-bodied, already very approachable wine, with densely packed, complex plum, blackcurrant and spice flavours, firm, savoury and persistent. Best drinking 2020+.” - Michael Cooper
